Role and Purpose
The European and International Affairs Board leads East Midlands Councils’ engagement with the key European and International issues that affect the region.
Membership
There are 14 Councillors on the European & International Affairs Board, who serve for one year, and are nominated by their respective political groups.
There will be 14 representatives on the European & International Board. Members serve for one year and are selected on the basis of political balance and nominated through their political group leaders.

The Chair is Cllr Dave Wilcox (Derbyshire County Council). The Vice-Chair is Cllr David Sprason (Leicestershire County Council)

The European and International Board meets four times a year and meetings are open to the public.

Responding to the Challenges
East Midlands Councils and the LGA held a seminar at Nottingham City Council on 20th January 2011 for Members and officers to consider the impact of potential upcoming EU legislation, the opportunities for all Councils from EU funding and proposed changes to the administration of the European Regional Development Fund.
