Housing delivery in a challenging market: delivering new housing without grants

This forms part of the training programme which East Midlands Councils has developed with the Chartered Institute of Housing. It will be delivered by CIH's Ben Taylor.

With the affordable rent programme now underway, housing self-financing about to commence and the need for new affordable housing greater than ever, what can local authorities do to enable the provision of new affordable housing? This course will examine the options open to local authorities in developing affordable housing. The course will cover:

• The policy context - including the Government’s Housing Strategy;
• The affordable rent programme;
• Opportunities under self-financing and working in partnership;
• What the future may hold for new affordable housing.
