HR, Employment and Councillor Development

The Local Government Services team provides support to local authorities in the East Midlands.

Supporting implementation of national HR strategies, policies, conditions of service and national and European legislation

East Midlands Councils provides a key link between national and European bodies and local authorities to support the local implementation of national conditions of service, legislation and other workforce initiatives.

Providing Practitioner Networks

Every authority is entitled to nominate members to our networks.  The networks are key to providing individual and corporate learning, offering access to key national and regional speakers, and helping authorities tackle upcoming challenges and exchange good practice.  Networks can be set up to meet demand.

Our existing networks are listed below:-

Outplacement Support and Career Counselling

East Midlands Councils provides Outplacement Support on a not-for-profit basis, which therefore enables Councils to support affected employees in a cost-effective way and without compromising on the quality of the support provided.

Offering Training & Development Opportunities

East Midlands Councils is committed to providing a range of supporting mechanisms for the benefit of officers and councillors within the region.  East Midlands Councils runs a full training programme enabling authorities to be kept up to date with employment legislation, current issues and key skills.  Events are provided for officers and councillors and are run on a regional basis or can be held in-house within local authorities.  East Midlands Councils regional councilor development programme is offered based on research and feedback from authorities in the region.

Delivering Services on a Contracted Basis

East Midlands Councils can deliver projects and services to meet the requirements of local authorities, national bodies and partner organizations.  We are committed to achieving the highest standards of good practice to deliver objectives within timescales and budget.

Providing Support on a Consultancy Basis

Local authorities and member organizations are able to tap into officers and associates of East Midlands Councils who can provide support on a consultancy basis to meet their individual requirements.  A wide range of issues are supported, as well as meeting needs for interim management.
