National Graduate Development Programme

The National Graduate Development Programme is now open for councils who wish to register for the 2013 intake (The programme starts in October)

Attached is a copy of the new information pack and participation form. They can also be found on the LGA website here http://www.local.gov.uk/ngdp

The LGA are really keen to get new councils on board, particularly those from the midlands and the north!  Last year was a very successful year as they had 46 councils signed up for 92 places.

Some key points to note for the NGDP scheme are:  

  • The LGA have a new offer this year for those councils who want to recruit locally. They can still participate in the programme and the LGA will support them to recruit if they want (details in the information pack)
  • The deadline for being involved is 30 April
  • The LGA will come and talk to councils that are interested if they want to know more
  • The national learning and development programme is delivered by SOLACE Enterprises and inlogov from the University of Birmingham
  • The costs involved include a one off fee to the LGA of either £2,250 or £2,000 depending on the option they chose from the new offer – plus the graduates salary – a minimum of £22,958
