There will be a mix of briefing slides to introduce discussion and activities, as well as a range of useful phrases for chairs. Group work will be used to produce checklists and action plans, drawing on reflections on experience and tips from the facilitator. The workshop will cover preparation for meetings, management of a meeting and follow up for effective outcomes, as well as problem solving around challenges chairs might face. The focus will be guided by participants.

The tutor, Ann Reeder, is an experienced local government and public sector trainer, who has worked in the sector in various roles for nearly thirty years. She was an elected member of a London Borough and in its leadership and is now a parish councillor in Somerset. She has experience in all types of council and political control.
