East Midlands Councils have organised a 90-minute virtual training session on Forced Marriage & Honour Based Abuse - Basic Awareness delivered by Bal Kaur Howard at BKH Training.

Description

This session aims to raise awareness, identification and support processes of Honour Based Abuse/Forced Marriage and the impact on victims/children. Enabling practitioners to be able to understand the issues and support processes available to children and adults subjected to Honour Based Abuse /Forced Marriage across all cultures and religions and families.

The basic awareness session will include:

- context of Domestic Abuse & Honour Based Abuse

- definitions of Honour Based Abuse/Forced Marriage & Government / Policing Strategy

- differences between Arranged / Forced Marriage & why they happen

- risk indicators / triggers why an individual may suffer Honour Based Abuse / Forced Marriage

- To challenge community/cultural beliefs
