Decision Making and Effective Problem Solving

Decision Making and Effective Problem Solving

The aim of this workshop is for you to become more aware of your decision making capacity and to become a more effective problem solver.

During the workshop we will have a number of practical sessions in which you will be able to learn about the MBTI instrument and also apply the instrument to decision making situations.  To maximise the benefit of this session, we like to focus on real decisions and therefore ask you to think about an important decision you have made and be prepared to talk about it.

Benefits of undertaking this workshop:

  • To build awareness of your preferred decision making style
  • To learn about how personality preferences influence decision making
  • Develop practical skills and  strategies to make both individual and group decision making more effective

Workshop Outline:

  • Introduction to the Myers Briggs Type Indicator Tool
  • Exploring your best fit type
  • Looking at your decision-making style – strengths and challenges
  • Exploring the impact of MBTI Type on decision making
  • Action planning – enhancing your decision making style

The workshop will be led by

Sam Maher, Director of HR and Councillor Development and Lisa Butterfill, HR and Development Manager at East Midlands Councils. Sam leads the team responsible for member and leadership development for local authorities across the region and has considerable experience of designing and delivering leadership development workshops involving MBTI with a range of different organisations.  Lisa has responsibility for supporting and enabling member development across the region and has extensive experience in both the public and private sector of designing and delivering leadership development workshops for both officers and members involving the MBTI tool.
