How to achieve a QUALITY green development

EMC, in conjunction with Design Midlands are running a series of four half day masterclasses.

In this seminar, we will be looking at how to maximise every aspect of positive impact, through our green space design. Focusing on how we can shape green spaces to make unique, integral, meaningful places.

We will identify where soft landscape and green infrastructure can make a tangible, lasting difference.

Speaker Biographies

Fiona Heron RSA MSc MA CMLI

Fiona Heron is a Landscape Architect particularly interested in place making which embraces an holistic approach to landscape. 

In both public and private sectors, Fiona Heron Design focuses on high quality integrated landscape and fine art solutions at conceptual and detailed design stages. During 20yrs of experience she has worked with a wide range of environmental professionals 

She is an Opun Design Review Panel Member, a Trustee and panel member for Urban Vision, North Staffs and has acted as strategic Landscape Consultant with the Joint Planning Unit,  Northampton, on Urban Design Policy and housing developments.   

She has a developed a specialist design consultancy role for paragraph 79 houses and acted as Landscape Architect and Expert Witness on a successful planning appeal.

Formerly a Senior Landscape Architect with the City of Nottingham, Fiona designed and project-managed major renewal schemes as well as co-authored the Nottingham Open Space Strategy, Play Space Policy and assisted with landscape and green Local Plan Issues.  

She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, has written articles for the Landscape Institute Journal and has been visiting lecturer/ tutor at Sheffield and Nottingham Universities. Several of her City Centre designs are featured in Pevsner (Nottingham)  

Who should attend?

Professional, practical and useable training courses for local authority officers, the voluntary and private sector with an interest in the practicalities of place making.  Numbers of attendees are limited to support discussion between participants and the trainer. 

The courses will provide participants with current best practice and an enhanced understanding of each subject.

Non-members £150 + VAT
