On 2 July, East Midlands Councils is hosting a virtual workshop for coaching on 'How a crisis influences behaviour'.

When we are tired or under stress our behaviour can change. We can over-play strengths, demonstrate lowered emotional intelligence, and use ‘back up’ behaviours that are somewhat dysfunctional. During Covid-19 we’ve seen examples of these behaviours. They are amplified by ‘social proof’ as we collectively navigate our way through one of the greatest crisis we’ve faced in recent history. In this session we explore how Covid-19 may impact coachee behaviour.

  • Covid-19 as a ‘crisis’: how do we typically react and respond in crisis? 
  • Emotional hijack: how a crisis impacts our emotional intelligence 
  • Overplayed strengths: too much of a good thing
  • Social proof: How during times of crisis we are so influenced by others, and why this matters
  • Helping coachees build resilience
  • Maintaining perspective: Helping coachees to retain a sense of realistic optimism and reframe.

This will be an interactive session where you will have the opportunity to reflect on and explore the behaviours you have observed during lockdown, share your experiences and ask questions.

Audience – this virtual workshop is aimed at coaches in the East Midlands.

This virtual workshop will take place over MS Teams (don’t worry you don’t need to have this to be able to join).  Dr Suzanne Ross, an expert speaker and experience trainer in both face to face and virtual environment. 

This 90 minute virtual workshop will enable coaches to feel confident in their understanding of how a crisis can influence behaviour and how this relates to their work with coachees.

Suzanne has over 20 years global experience in high performance practices, talent management, leadership and team development.  She has worked internationally across Europe, Middle East, South Africa and India (EMEAI) in both emerging and established markets, as well as globally with experience in North America, Latin America and Asia Pacific.

Suzanne is a part-time Senior Lecturer at Nottingham Business School (NBS) part of Nottingham Trent University (NTU).

Suzanne has a PhD in leadership talent, success and derailment. She is a qualified, experienced and accredited Executive Coach; a Member of the International Coaching Federation; a Master Practitioner of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council and a Professional Member of the Association of NLP. She is accredited in a range of psychometric tools including MBTI personality preferences; E-Qi Emotional Intelligence Inventory, Emotional and Social Competency Inventory and the Hogan Leadership Suite.
