East Midland's Strategic Migration Partnership leads on asylum, migration and refugee resettlement in the East Midlands. Given the very real significance modern slavery for local people and their communities, East Midlands Councils is hosting a region-wide summit for Local Authority councillors, senior officers, the voluntary sector and wider private and public sector partners.

The summit will give those attending the opportunity to gain a better understanding of Modern Slavery, the impact on victims and communities and what more can be done in support of the police and partners in the statutory, non-statutory and business sector in making the East Midlands a hostile environment for the perpetrators of this crime whilst supporting potential victims.
