Blue Infrastructure - A Practical Guide to Implementing Sustainable Drainage Systems - SuDS

                               

 

EMC, in conjunction with Design Midlands are running a series of four half day masterclasses. 

The seminar will provide an understanding on the importance, benefits and the practicalities in achieving robust SuDS including:

  • a workshop looking at the constraints and opportunities of sites, focusing on the multiple benefits of SuDS – getting the right scheme in the right place;
  • reference to recent case studies; and
  • an optional study tour to see stormwater management on the ground, providing practical guidance on SuDS use and application.

 

Speaker Biographies

David Singleton
Director DSA Environment + Design Ltd

David Singleton’s experience covers a wide range of environmental design and management practice, from planning scale down to detailed design working with commercial, voluntary and public sector clients. He is an advisor to CIRIA in the development of guidance for Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) and worked on the Project Steering Group for the new SuDS Manual.

Matthew Johnson
Senior Engineer
MEng CEng MICE. Arup

Matthew Johnson is a senior civil engineer with Arup in Nottingham and is a Chartered member of the Institution of Civil Engineers. Matthew has been involved in numerous civil engineering and infrastructure projects, with over 11 years of experience as a consultant engineer. His technical strengths are sustainable drainage schemes and flood risk assessment, covering projects from planning to completion. He has been involved in drainage schemes for aviation, rail, residential, industrial, commercial, educational, and energy projects. Matthew is passionate about learning and applying technical expertise to challenging projects.

Who should attend?

Professional, practical and useable training courses for local authority officers, the voluntary and private sector with an interest in the practicalities of place making.  Numbers of attendees are limited to support discussion between participants and the trainer. 

The courses will provide participants with current best practice and an enhanced understanding of each subject.  There is a particular emphasis on masterplanning and seeing a site within its setting (1st Oct event).
