Health Task Group

Purpose

The health task group is accountable to the East Midlands Strategic Migration partnership. It will work to deliver the health-related aspects of the Regional Partnership's work-plan, and will provide regular reports to that partnership.

The aim of the migration health task group is therefore to improve the overall health of migrants, with the intention of reducing the inequality in health outcomes from which most migrant communities suffer. 

 To improve understanding of the issues related to migrant health through, for example:

  • Data collection and analysis, including
  • Collection of information on the impact migration is having on health and health services across the Region
  • Collection of data and information on the health needs of migrant communities
  • Collection of information on interventions/services/good practice currently being undertaken in the East Midlands and beyond.

Membership

The East Midlands Strategic Migration Partnership Health task group is open to all NHS health service providers in the region, which includes Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and the cities within. 

Membership is open to local authorities and voluntary sector providers with an interest in health matters relating to Migrants, Asylum seekers and Refugees in the region.
