Afghanistan Cultural Orientation Session

East Midlands Councils have organised a 2 hour virtual Afghanistan Information Session on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th October 2021 from 2.00 pm - 4.00 pm. This virtual training session will be hosted by IOM UK.

This two-day session on Afghanistan will look at the background and experiences of Afghan communities and how this can potentially impact their expectations of life in the UK. By covering some key topics, participants will have an opportunity to explore opportunities to adapt support services for effective integration assistance. Topics covered over the course of the two-part session include a brief history of modern-day Afghanistan as well as its geography and demographics, health and education infrastructure, cultural diversity and traditions, as well as the recent conflict and its impact. To facilitate enhanced learning, this session will be participatory and rely heavily on participant engagement through activities and discussion. We therefore highly encourage participants to prepare to take an active part, and attend both days to receive the full suite of information.
