Public Speaking for Elected Members

EMC is offering its member authorities the opportunity to participate in a half day seminar at the East Midlands Councils’ offices on Public Speaking. This seminar of interactive skills development will use a few illustrated slides of principles and tips, interspersed with film clips, readings and individual and paired exercises to cover:

  • Key principles for public speaking
  • Pitching the content and approach
  • Practical techniques for public speaking
  • Exercises to apply the learning

Topics would include identifying the context, assessing the objectives, being aware of the venue and understanding your audience.

Places on this highly interactive seminar are limited to 12, so early booking is recommended.
