New Jobs Portal makes getting work in the Public Sector easier

Finding a rewarding career in the Public Sector has been made easier with the new East Midlands Jobs recruitment website. It is being used by local authorities across the East Midlands to fill jobs and attract quality candidates.

Launched in March 2011, it has already had over 114,000 hits and over 660 jobs have been advertised. East Midlands Jobs can be seen at It has been developed with public sector recruitment in mind and new organisations are joining all the time. The success of East Midlands Jobs is indicative that whilst recruitment into local government has slowed down local authorities in particular are looking to attract quality candidates to the sector. Roles in social work, planning, finance and building control are all areas where there is a shortage of candidates.

A wide variety of vacancies have been advertised to date including roles in social care, schools, customer service and marketing. Campaigns have been used to attract candidates to roles in children’s social work and a new customer service centre.

Cllr David Parsons CBE, Chair of East Midlands Councils who are hosting East Midlands Jobs  said “East Midlands Jobs helps great people get great jobs in our local councils across the East Midlands.”

Head of Human Resources, Leicestershire County Council Simon Nearney said: “By using East Midlands Jobs we have been able to provide a much better job search and application facility for candidates.  Candidates can apply online, save applications, search and save jobs.  It makes the recruitment process for applicants much easier to use and offers a professional recruitment solution for Leicestershire County Council.

“It is a very user friendly system for both employers to get their jobs advertised and for candidates to look for and apply for those jobs. We are working closely with East Midlands Jobs to identify areas for improvement all the time”
