Enforcement and Regulation Conference

DHSC and East Midlands Councils have arranged an Enforcement and Regulation Conference to bring together local authorities, Police and PHE to hear from a range of local and national agencies about regulations and enforcement policies related to COVID-19.  There will also be the opportunity to hear from a number of case study presentations about lessons learnt.

The seminar will run from 1.30pm-4.30pm on Tuesday 6th October on Microsoft Teams.  A detailed programme will be sent out shortly but currently the following have been confirmed: 

  • National Legal and Policy Context – Lynne Henderson, Unit Head, Escalations & Response Unit, Joint Biosecurity Centre
  • Local Legal and Policy Context – Patrick Taaffe, Assistant Head of Law, Leicestershire County Council & Gary Connors, Head of Regulatory Services, Leicestershire County Council
  • Rook Row Farm Case Study – Alistair Neill, Chief Executive, Herefordshire County Council
  • Police Enforcement – How to manage planned and illegal events – Lincolnshire Police
  • Green Core Case Study – Northamptonshire County Council
  • HSE’s role in regulating workplaces during the pandemic - Tony Mitchell, Acting Head of Operations for the Midlands, HSE
  • Lincolnshire Police’s overarching Gold strategy re Covid and policing the Black Lives Matters protests - Chief Superintendent Nikki Mayo, Lincolnshire Police
  • Policing and Enforcement of illegal events during the pandemic - Chief Superintendent Jon McAdam, Lincolnshire Police
