Coaching through Uncertainty and Change
For the public sector, change has always been a fact of organisational life. The pace of change has however, increased significantly and is alongside a turbulent external environment. A term often used to describe this external environment is VUCA – Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous.
Against this backdrop organisations are going through sector transformation, increased constraints, a need to improve efficiency and effectiveness and to innovate, whilst also ‘doing the day job’. How can coaches best support their coachees within this context, especially when, as internal coaches, they are often experiencing this same uncertainty?
The aims of this coaching CPD session are to:
- Understand the impact of uncertainty on wellbeing, engagement and performance
- Reflect on the ‘illusion’ of control. In turbulent times, what can we control?
- Explore approaches to coaching others through uncertainty and change which enable coping and thriving
- Reflect on the challenges for internal coaches who are part of the system, in coaching others during uncertainty.
Throughout the session there will be the opportunity for coaches to reflect on and share their experiences of coaching in this context.
