Session: Coaching through Change
Session overview
Change has always been a fact of organisational life; however, over the last four years the rate of change has increased significantly. What has also been significant is that much of the change organisations are experiencing is reactive, rather than proactive change for growth and innovation. This, together with the continued slow pace of the covid recovery, the impact of Brexit and political, economic and social unrest creates a challenging climate for coaches coaching within the organisation.
Whilst there are frameworks, tools and techniques for understanding change and bringing people with you through change, development in change and change management tends to be underfunded in many organisations. This makes it especially challenging for coaches supporting coachees through change.
During this session we will explore insights from the field of change management to enable you, as a coach, to better support your coachees.
Aims of the session
The aims of the session are to:
- Understand how the change context impacts how we react to change.
- Identify reactions to change and the psychology behind these.
- Understand why people might resist change – including you and your coachee!
- Build awareness of tools and resources available to support those leading change.
- Identify coaching approaches that can best support people during change.
For change agents, change leaders, or those going through change, coaching can be a powerful support mechanism. This session will help you to develop your ability to coach for change.
