East Midlands APPG Call for Evidence: Identifying East Midlands Priorities for the 2025 Comprehensive Spending Review

Call for Evidence Deadline:  Friday 7th February 2025

An All-Party Parliamentary Group has recently been set-up to provide a collective voice for the East Midlands in parliament, to raise its profile and influence, and to campaign on key regional issues. MPs from across the East Midlands recognise that the region continues to be under-funded, and we need to take better advantage of local opportunities for growth and investment.

The forthcoming Comprehensive Spending Review (likely to be published in June 2025) presents an opportunity to redress the imbalance, and to put the needs and opportunities of the East Midlands front and centre of the new government’s agenda.

Working with East Midlands Councils and the Midlands Chamber of Commerce, the APPG is keen to hear from stakeholders across the East Midlands (Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland) about strategic policies and projects that would enable the region to address one or more of following challenges:

  • Boosting transport links.
  • Improving climate resilience and flood mitigation/adaptation, including flood risk.
  • Creating new jobs, boosting skills and improving labour productivity.
  • Building more homes and addressing rising homelessness.
  • Supporting a just transition to net zero.
  • Improving healthy life expectancy and reducing health inequalities, particularly for women.

Submissions

Written submissions of no more than 1,800 words in total (300 per bullet) are invited by 5.00pm on
Friday 7 February 2025.
