Cyber Security – Stay safe online!

This one-hour session has been developed for Councillors in the East Midlands to provide practical advice and information to help keep you safe online. Previous attendees have rated this briefing as informative and excellent, not only in raising their own awareness but in the practical advice and guidance they can use to signpost in their communities too.
What is Cyber Security?
East Midlands Councils, working collaboratively with the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU), is hosting a free webinar for Councillors on cyber security.
Cyber Security is the protection of your hardware, software and data from unauthorised access and cyber-attacks. We recognise the value and responsibility you bring to our communities as a councillor, with this in mind we want to ensure that you have strong cyber security protection available to you.
Session Content and Approach
With the current news around global conflicts, we are seeing a real increase in targeted cybercrime, to combat this, we will cover topics and provide practical tips regarding:
- Securing your digital footprint
- Securing your social media
- How to work in public spaces using technology
You will also gain a broad understanding of what additional services law enforcement can offer you and receive information and useful links following the briefing.
Session Facilitator
This briefing is being facilitated by EMSOU which is a collaborative unit of officers and staff from Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire police forces tackling the most serious, organised and violent crime, countering terrorism and extremism and providing forensic services on behalf of the region.
