EMC & TfEM have published a joint response to the Government’s consultation on proposals to cancel the A38 Derby Junctions and A46 Newark Bypass enhancements.   The response highlights the strategic importance of both schemes and the lack of any viable alternatives that will reduce congestion, improve safety and facilitate housing and economic growth.   Coming just a year after the Ministers’ ‘indefinitely paused’ Midland Main Line Electrification, these cancellations would represent further ‘de-funding’ of the East Midlands which already receives the lowest level of transport spending per head of any UK region or nation.
