Low cost CPD programme for PLANNERS 2015/16

What does the programme look like?

East Midlands Councils (EMC), in conjunction with East Midlands RTPI (EM RTPI), have arranged a programme of 6 low cost CPD knowledge based seminars for local authority planners and private sector planners.  The programme will tackle issues of relevance to local planning authorities and all the seminars will be held in Melton Mowbray.

How does it work?

  • Each local authority that is a member of EMC will pay a one off cost of £575+VAT per participating organisation per year. For this fee, participating organisations can have 18 course places per year (3* places per seminar).
  • Each non local government organisation will pay ane off cost per year from one of the following options:
  • £575 +VAT per participating organisation per year - for 6 seminar places in total p.a.
  • £1,150 + VAT per participating organisation per year – for 12 seminar places in total p.a.
  • £1,725 + VAT per participating organisation per year – for 18 seminar places in total p.a. 
  • RPTI Sole Traders will pay £200+VAT each (non-transferable) per year - to attend 1 or more seminars, up to a total of 6
  • Each seminar of the programme will recognise the completion of a minimum of 5½ hours CPD.
  • The 2015/16 seminar topics have been chosen by each of the county Chief Planning Officers (CPO) groups. These topics will change in future years to reflect the diverse nature of planning.


  • At least 18 officers attending the 6 seminars
  • At least 90 hours of development
  • A cost saving of over £2000

How do you register?

Approximately 2 months prior to each seminar, you will be sent by email the relevant programme and delegate booking form. Please complete the latter with a list of delegate names from your authority and email it to

The closing date for delegate registration is 2 weeks prior to each seminar.

* If a seminar is undersubscribed, extra places will be offered to authorities after the closing date.

** These seminars will be held on a Tuesday, the remaining 4 will be on a Thursday.
