East Midlands Councils (EMC) has been awarded additional targeted funding from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to strengthen English language provision in the region.
The funding will provide grants of up to £10,000 to voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations across the East Midlands to support the delivery of non-capital projects running until 31 March 2026, with a focus on:
- Meeting the specific English language needs of migrants, particularly Hong Kong BN(O) and Ukraine visa holders, as well as Communities for Afghans beneficiaries.
- Building the capacity of VCSE organisations delivering ESOL.
- Supporting the training and upskilling of volunteer ESOL tutors, including through trauma-informed practice and secondary/vicarious trauma awareness.
Eligible organisations include registered or exempt charities, charitable incorporated organisations, community interest companies, charitable companies, community benefit societies, constituted community groups, and faith-based groups.
Applications must be submitted to smp@emcouncils.gov.uk in MS Word format no later than 5pm on Friday 12 September 2025. Applicants will be notified of the outcome on Monday 22 September.
