Skills Development Workshops

Skills Development Sessions

East Midlands Councils offer a range of workshops for councillors which can be delivered either in house directly to a local authority, or held regionally, enabling councillors from across the East Midlands to attend.

Locations of our events

We hold many of our events at our base in Melton Mowbray, but also work with local authorities to hold the sessions in other locations and have recently held workshop with the support of Blaby District Council, Newark and Sherwood District Council and Nottinghamshire County Council.

Supporting the Delivery of In-House Training

Our events held regionally (that are open to all councillors) can also be held within inidividual authorities and we would happy to support councils to bring these sessions in house.

When sessions are held within a authority (delivered in-house) East Midlands Councils will work with the council to understand what is important to be achieve from the training and in objectives of those taking part.  Based on this detailed understanding of your needs we will support your authority to identify the most appropriate trainer/facilitator.

Sessions and programme can be tailored to the needs of your authority with the flexibility to run short bite size sessions through to full day workshops.

When sessions are held in-house for authorities we support councils to identify the right trainer to support your needs and then the trainer delivers the session at your authority at the time that works for you.  To maximise opportunities to attend sessions can be repeated on the same day or held in the evening.  Our goal is to understand your specific needs and support you to achieve them.
